Pass it on." I thought it would be a good thing to pass it on by posting it on my blog. These personal security tips are great for women but they're also great for anyone - students, college campus safety, men, children, parents, grandparents, etc. Feel free to copy it and paste it in to your own email and send it to your loved ones. You can also just forward this post to anyone by hitting "Insert In IM" or "Insert In email" in the upper right hand side of your browser. Be safe for the holidays. Here's the email:

Because of recent abductions:
In daylight hours, refresh yourself of these things to do in an emergency situation...
This is for you, and for you to share with your wife, your children, everyone you know!
After reading these 9 crucial tips, forward them to someone you care about.
It never hurts to be careful in this crazy world we live in.

1. Tip from Tae Kwon Do :
The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide. If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you... Chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse.
RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy... The driver won't see you, but everybody else will.
This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc.
DON'T DO THIS!
The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go.
AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR , LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE...

If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF, I Repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it.
As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor , and in the back seat
B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side... If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.
IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY.
(And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot.
(This is especially true at NIGHT!)

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; and even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, Preferably in a zig-zag pattern!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP!
It may get you raped, or killed.
Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked 'for help' into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point:
Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird... The police told her 'Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door...' The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.' He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night.
10. Water scam! If you wake up in the middle of the night to hear all your taps outside running or what you think is a burst pipe, DO NOT GO OUT TO INVESTIGATE! These people turn on all your outside taps full blast so that you will go out to investigate and then be attacked.

Stay alert, keep safe, and look out for your neighbors!
Please pass this on…
This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby Theory was mentioned on America 's Most Wanted when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana

I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle...
I was going to send this to the 'ladies' only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well.
Send this to any woman you know that may need to be reminded that the world we live in has a lot of 'crazies' in it and it's better to be safe than sorry...
Everyone should take 5 minutes to read this. It may save your life or a loved one's life.

Pass it on for the holidays and Please Be Safe!

<a href="http://www.davesjoint.com"target="new">Dave@davesjoint.com
Davespersonalsafetyblog

Personal Alarms: Don't Leave Home Without Them

It's late at night and you just got off your nightshift job. You're walking to your car and hear someone's walking behind you. Good thing your father gave you that Personal Alarm with Flashlight for your protection. You have it handy in your coat pocket so keep your hand on it just in case. He approaches you...pull the pin...Piercing Noise....he runs away. Whew! That was close. Good thing you had that personal alarm with flashlight; and you thought you'd never use it. Not only that but the flashlight comes in handy when getting into your car or home in the dark.

A friend of mine gave one of these to her college student daughter and her daughter thought it was silly and wouldn't carry it. I just thought it was ridiculous. Why not give yourself some kind of protection if you don't know self defense and don't want to carry a real weapon like a Kubotan or Mace Pepper Spray or something. At least carry something to scare someone off. It could make a big difference in your personal safety and security. Protect your loved ones and enable them with one of these personal security devices. You'll be happy they have one.

Personal Alarm With Flashlight

Davespersonalsafetyblog

University Campus Safety

Are you about to send your child off to college? If you have a pool and you don't have a pool alarm you should look into getting one. It is essentially a shortened Yawara, usually 5.5 - 6 inches (14 - 15.25cm) long and slightly thicker than a marker pen. Typically attached to a keyring for convenience and concealment, the kubotan appears to be an innocuous key fob to the untrained eye. Often it is carried instead of or as a complement to pepper spray, with the advantage that it does not deplete or backfire due to wind direction." Here's some holiday advice. I like to tell my 6 year old daughter that she should always be extra careful not to get hurt while she's having a good time. It's at these very moments that our guards can be caught down. Likewise, during the holiday season we're all caught up in the whirlwind of preparation, expectations, stress, fun, depression, etc.. we forget to pay attention to our environment and fall prey to those that take advantage of people. Don't forget that even though your having a good time you still need to pay attention to what's going on around you. That means that when you pull up to your house in your car, and it's dark out, take a look around before getting out, and arm yourself with something. Even if it's not mace or something intended for defense. Your keys for example. Or an umbrella. Just be aware of what's going on around you and be prepared and you'll avoid alot of potentially dangerous situations.
Davespersonalsafetyblog

Why Daves Personal Safety Blog

Figured I'd write a bit about why I'm doing this thing in the first place. I created Daves Personal Safety Blog to compliment my website http://www.davesjoint.com/ . It's a way for me to communicate with my customers and get feedback on my site and the many products that we carry.
But what was the driving force behind davesjoint in the first place? Well, ever since getting a computer and going online about 5 years ago, I've been intrigued by the ecommerce field. I'm a Healthcare Profesional and have practiced as a Medical Technologist for 18 years at a well known Hospital on Long Island, New York. I have a wife and 6 year old daughter and struggle to provide for my little family just like everyone else. I've made a living in this field but really need to supplement my hard earned but low salary (like many other people in NY and accross this beautiful country we live in). Fortunately there are many things a hot blooded, capitalist can do in America to earn some extra money! And instead of getting a traditional second job at Starbucks I decided to explore non-traditional options.
I saw the huge potential in the online marketplace. I started looking in to what it would take to open up my own ecommerce website using a number of platforms, and decided on developing a website focusing on Personal Protective Devices, Personal Alarms of all kinds, and Mace Brand Products (which you can find on my site if you follow the link above). I love these products and really feel as though I'm helping people by selling these devices. I also love to give them as gifts to my friends and family. In a world where crime is really out of hand it's great to enable people to protect themelves and their loved ones. I found a great supplier and taught myself how to develop an online presence (including the development of this blog). I also have expanded into a diverse product line including Digital Gadgets, Digital Picture Frames, MP3 and MP4 Players, Personal DVD Players and much more! If you're interested in doing the same thing I can help you! Just check out Daves Web Development and let me know what you think. You can respond to my posts or email me at dave@davesjoint.com with positive or negative feedback, comments, suggestions, insults, compliments, propositions, offers, etc. Let me know what your thinking. Also, it clings to the attacker's face. The more the attacker tries to wipe the foam off, the more the foam gets rubbed into the eyes. Pepper gel works exactly like the pepper foam, yet its effectiveness is much better than the pepper foam. It is stickier and harder to remove. The gel is a little more expensive than the foam. Now, as far as the Mace Pepper Batons and the ASP Defenders go, both seem to have the same function, just under a different name. There seems to be a slight difference, however. ASP Defenders come in many different sizes while Mace Pepper Batons do not come in quite as many. They are both just as effective and usually use the same ingredients.
Davespersonalsafetyblog

Man sentenced in case of LI boy shot in eye during burglary
8:48 PM EDT, October 29, 2007

MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) _ A second man was sentenced to prison Monday for his role in a home invasion that left a 9-year-old boy shot in the eye and partially paralyzed. Rasheed Watson, 22, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in the botched burglary that sparked a wild shootout in an Inwood home. "I believe this man belongs in jail for the rest of his life," John Henry Romano, now 10, said in Nassau County Court during the sentencing. "I would still be the same if it weren't for him."
The boy is now blind in one eye and unable to run or move his left arm. Authorities say Watson and two others broke into the home where John Henry was visiting. Watson and a second man were armed with handguns, and the trio ordered the people in the house to get on their knees and hand over valuables, authorities said. The homeowner heard the commotion from a back room and came out with a licensed handgun. The owner exchanged gunfire with the burglars, hitting Williams in the face, leg and hand. Watson fired, striking John Henry in the eye and injuring a 22-year-old man. Watson, of Patterson, N.J., was found guilty in September of robbery, assault and burglary charges. In July, Brooklyn resident Tyreek Williams was sentenced to 21 years in prison after pleading guilty to the same charges. Police are still seeking the third man. ___ Information from: Newsday.com

Copyright © 2007, The Associated Press

These kind of stories are really commonplace in our society!
